Summer is all about fun in the sun and getting out and enjoying the beautiful weather… especially if you live in Minnesota, like I do. When you only get 3 months out of the year to enjoy the great outdoors in weather that won’t give you frost bite, you do it big! Trust me. This summer especially, I can’t seem to get enough of the sun and having a little girl who loves to be outside is making this summer even more special to me.

We recently made a trip to my friend’s to go swimming and I have to admit, leading up to it I was a little nervous to get in a swim suit. I had just started working out and eating healthy, but it takes time for our bodies to change and I wasn’t quite sure if I was ready to show off my work-in-progress. I knew I didn’t want to go out and buy a one-piece swim suit or a tankini for the occasion because for one, I’ve never been a one-piece or tankini kinda gal and two, when I do have a beach-ready bod I’m going to want something that shows off my hot new abs! (Hopefully!) So I chose a fun Old Navy swim suit and decided to own it!
My body isn’t perfect and no one I know is 100% confident in their body– especially in a swim suit. But, as a mother I can’t just sit at home in over-sized clothes whining about how I hate my body. I needed to put on a fun, trendy swim-suit that would help me feel a little more comfortable in my skin and take my little Alea to the pool and have fun! I needed to make it about Alea and not me. I know it’s likely inevitable, but I don’t want her to ever feel uncomfortable in her skin. And the best way I can do that is by keeping my chin held high and having confidence in myself, my body and my imperfections.
