Pros:
---It's only about 25min.
---It's inexpensive ($7 for the video + cost of hand weights).
---It's challenging!
Cons:
---It gets boring after a while.
---Jillian gets ridiculously annoying at times.
Truthfully, I got sick of it and that's why I had to will myself to finish. Jillian just started to drive me bonkers and the routine got old. I'd try and cycle through all the levels to keep it interesting, but it just didn't do it for me after a while. My friend Joni from Six Cherries on Top suggested listening to music while doing it so I could ignore Jillian and that definitely got me through the last couple of days. So, thank you Joni! Also a big thanks to all of you cheering me on on Instagram & Twitter (@chellywelly1). Your kind words of encouragement really helped and in some cases a few of you (Diana & Stephanie!) even got me off my butt when I was having a hard time motivating myself to work out! So, THANK YOU!

I was going to post my before picture for you all when I started this journey, but decided against it. Not for shock value at the end, but because I was embarrassed. I know it's not "that bad," but I was ridiculously uncomfortable with my body in that day one photo. I took those pictures and cried. I used to wear a size 0. At my first doctors appointment when I was pregnant with Alea, I weighed 104 pounds. I'm incredible happy with the results of that 50+ pound weight gain during that pregnancy, but not with how it left my body. It's hard to think that I'll probably never be that skinny little twig I was before, but this is me trying to gain that confidence back.
And that's exactly what I did. I'm 10 times more confident in my body and that reflects into every facet of my life. I'm proud of the work I put into this program, even though I dwindled off a bit towards the end.

My "oh-my-gosh I finally feel skinny again" picture.

Congrats you look awesome! I actually start the 30 Day Shred today :S I won't be doing it for 30 straight days either. I'm taking the weekends off lol. Wish me luck!! :)

ReplyDeleteSomeone recommended the 30 Day Shred to me, and I've been considering trying it - thanks for your post. It's helpful!
wow! that's amazing! i think you look great in the day one photo! i know how you feel though. i have a just turned two year old and an almost six month old and it's hard to look at my body now compared to the thin athletic build i used to have. side note: i hate it when people tell me i look great to have had two kids.... what is that?! ha, oh well. thanks for the inspiration and the tips on the shred. i had considered it but if jillian is gonna annoy me then i might find something else!
ReplyDeleteGirl, you ARE a skinny little twig still. ;) A gorgeous twig at that. You look awesome! Good for you!! You can totally see a huge difference too.
ReplyDeleteYou look amazing!!!! I have that dvd and have started it a couple times, just never finished.
ReplyDeleteYou gave me motivation with this. :)

fabulous! i was doing the 30 day shred but got bored. however...i didn't give up exercising. i have been doing the 30 day shred about 2 times a week, doing the denise austin bootcamp workout about 2 times, and running the rest of the week. i am actually on day 15 without any days missed and 8 lbs. lighter. i totally just bragged right there. we deserve to brag though, right? we are working hard! keep it up lady!
ReplyDeleteFantastic shred. I have been busy losing 80 lbs over this past year. I still have 80 to go. I wish they had exercise videos for those with Mixed Connective Tissue Disease (sitting down exercises that can be done at home without vast expense). If you hear of one let me know. Once again Kudos
ReplyDeletecongrats, that's great! no matter what everyone has this feeling. everyone has something they feel self-concious about and so, it's great for you to see that and work on it to make yourself feel more confident! =) very inspiring!

ReplyDeleteYou look great! Seriously. Good job on having the guts to take a before & after...I know it's a hard thing to do in the beginning. You can totally see not only a difference in your body shape & tone but I can see it in your face & eyes too. You look happy. Great job...keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteI've done the shred before too & had some great results. It's definitely a butt kicker but it whipped me into shape

Hi..I am going on the programme just in time for my wedding in a month. Do you need to restrict your food intake drastically to get the results?

Thanks for sharing! I've had the 30 Day Shred in my DVD library for years now and have just recently decided I need to kick my butt in gear. Seeing your before/after results give me that much more motivation to really get started. I was supposed to start this morning but I'm not a morning person... since I'm such a night owl I may just do this before bed every night as my 2nd workout ;)
ReplyDeleteWOW. I'm very short (5 foot) and I weigh just under 120 when I used to weigh 105. I have boobs now, but I also have a stomach. My mom told me I was getting big last week, so I need to do something about it. I FEEL gross about myself. I miss wearing cute clothes and not have to worry about my stomach. You have given me the courage to ttry something like this. Did you just exercise or did you have to alter your diet as well?
ReplyDeleteYou go girl! Great results! I am definitely an advocate for JM.
