Can I just be honest for a second? I don’t really like road trips. They’re stressful. They require packing. I strongly dislike packing. And unpacking too for that matter. Alea’s never been one to like to sit in the car for hours on end and I’ve always had a heck of a time entertaining her. When she was really little I used to have to climb into the back seat and sing to her. Not just for a couple of minutes, but for what seemed like hours, because the sound of her mommy’s voice was the only thing that would comfort her and make her feel less alone. Now, the only thing that’ll quiet Alea down is Mickey Mouse Clubhouse on her portable DVD player. Which decided to bite the dust on our last road trip.
We were left to our own devices people and believe it or not, we survived. Mommy took pictures, Alea read books, and daddy sang along to the radio. We had a great time with family, although a quick weekend road trip always feels so rushed. Our nieces turned 3 and 1 and it makes me so happy that even though we live so far away, we still live close enough to enjoy those special moments with them.
ahhh they are so freaking stresfulll!!! Before kids we would drive to california for the weekend…pshh those days are over. We’ve had a couple really bad trips where we swear we will NEVER do it again…and then we do. glad to hear you survived!
