If you follow me on Instagram or if you read this post, then you know that we have a pretty picky eater on our hands. I feel like we’ve tried every trick in the book and I’ve been employed as a short-order chef for way too long that I’ve finally decided to buckle down. We haven’t 100% completely cracked down on her eating habits, but I have sent Alea to bed hungry a couple nights now. It’s not easy and to be perfectly honest, the first night it brought me to tears. But you know what? She survived. She still woke me up the next morning at 8am asking for a bowl of oatmeal and boy did she gobble that bowl up.
I mentioned on Instagram not too long ago that we were trying this new “2 Bite Club” thing with Alea. It all started when I picked her up from daycare one day and she immediately started telling me about this book that Andrea read to her about how you always have to take two bites of each food even if you don’t like it. She talked about it the whole way home until finally I asked her if she wanted to be a member of the 2 Bite Club.
And that’s what started it all! We made a chart & she gets to put a sticker on it if she tries two bites of each food on her plate. We haven’t gotten too crazy about it yet and have started mainly with foods we know she’ll eat, but still foods that Cory and I are eating as well. I’m excited to start phasing in some foods that she might normally turn away and see how she does. But so far? So good!
Here are the printables I promised you. I made one with pink letters and one with blue, to appeal to both sexes:
