Mother’s Day is less than a week away. Sunday, May 12th… (You hear that all you Dad’s out there? That’s my reminder for you!) I’m one to celebrate a holiday for at least a week prior or after, so to follow that tradition, it’s all about you Mom’s today! And for the rest of the week, too, right?
Being a mom isn’t easy. It can be really, really, really hard at times. It all comes down to just being selfless and giving your children all you’ve got. It’s about sleepless nights and sweet snuggles. It’s about those big belly laughs that come from someone so small. It’s about watching them grow & learn new things. It’s about teaching them all that you know and teaching them how to be the best little human beings they can be. It’s about loving someone so unconditionally that you can’t even imagine what life was life before they blessed you with their presence.
Being a parent is the best thing and the hardest thing I’ve ever had to experience. Making decisions that impact someone else’s life and not just my own is always the hardest part for me. Like whether or not we should put Alea in preschool for two years or what daycare she should go to. It’s hard. Being a mom is just plain tough sometimes. And that’s why I’m always thankful, excited, and proud to be able to celebrate Mother’s Day, especially now as a mother myself.
Even if it’s just a day where I can relax, sleep in a little bit, and not have to worry about dinner. Spending the day with my little girl is all that matters when it comes to Mother’s day, because after all, she’s the one who made me a mother in the first place!
Now for the fun part!
