Outfit c/o: Carters at Kohls
A is for: Alea. The only name Cory & I agreed on when I was pregnant with Alea. I liked Madeline, Olivia, Nora, Chloe, Sophia, but Cory turned his nose up at each one of them. We finally settled on “Alea” after much debate, but the name suits Alea just perfectly. Her middle name is Anne, which is also my middle name and my mom’s middle name, but I always call her “Alea Lou.” It just rolls off the tongue.
B is for: Babies. Alea is all kinds of obsessed with her baby dolls right now. She told me just the other day that she wants to be a mommy when she grows up and judging by the way she takes care of her dolls, I think she’ll make such a great mom one day! And she’s currently trying to talk Cory and I into giving her a baby sister. Can you say, YIKES?
C is for: Cupcake. Not only Alea’s favorite dessert, but also what she’s going to be for Halloween this year. I scored her costume after last Halloween at Old Navy for $6. Can’t beat that!
D is for: Dog. We first got our dog, Bentley, when Alea was just 10 months old. I was scared to death to get a dog, because Alea was scared to death of the dogs in our family at Christmas at my Grandma’s that year. Cory insisted though, and after a week or so of getting used to Bentley, Alea and “Benny”–as she calls him– are best buds.
E is for: Evie. The one stuffed animal that Alea sleeps with just about every night. She’s never gotten attached to a blankie or a stuffed animal, so this is kind of a big deal for her!
F is for: Four. Alea learned how to write the number 4 just last week. I was one proud mama 🙂
G is for: Grapes. Grapes and bananas used to be the only two fruits Alea would eat. While she still loves grapes and bananas, she’s expanded her fruit horizons to include cherries and blueberries as well. Leaps and bounds!
H is for: Henry Hugglemonster. Alea’s favorite TV show, hands down. There’s no other show that sucks her in and quiets her down as much as Henry Hugglemonster. I love that whenever it comes on I know I can hurry up and get the dishes done or throw in some laundry without being interrupted.
I is for: Indigo. If you ask Alea what the different colors of the rainbow are she always sticks with the traditional ROYGBIV. And if there’s any mention of the color “purple” she will correct and and tell you that “indigo” and “violet” are in the rainbow, not “purple.” Just for future reference. I wouldn’t want you getting schooled by a three-year-old or anything.
J is for: Jokes. “What do you call a bear with no teeth? A gummy bear!” “Knock, knock. Who’s there? Boo. Boo who? Please don’t cry!” These are just a couple of Alea’s favorite jokes. I think we have a class clown on our hands.
K is for: Key. One of these would have been useful when Alea locked us out of our bedroom a month or so ago. Little stinker isn’t always so cute!
L is for: Laugh. I’m probably bias, but I think my little girl has the sweetest laugh. It’s the most precious sound and music to my ears.
M is for: Magazine. Alea’s very first magazine subscription came from my grandparents. They bought her a subscription to Highlights High Five magazine– the same magazine they subscribed me to when I was little. We love reading it together and doing the activities inside. It brings me right back to my childhood.
N is for: Nap. I’m so thankful that Alea’s started napping again. I know this probably won’t last forever, but that 1 hour I get everyday is pure bliss. She’s always been a stinker about sleeping since she was a baby though… naps included!
O is for: One. My proudest accomplishment with Alea is that we breastfed for one year. That was a pretty big thing for both of us.
P is for: Peanut Butter & Jelly. Alea’s favorite food… ever. You ask this kid what she wants for breakfast, lunch or dinner and she’ll likely respond with, “A peanut butter and jelly please!”
Q is for: Quarter. One of the first things I bought for Alea was a sparkly pink piggy bank from Old Navy. I wanted her to
R is for: Racing. Everything’s a race or a competition to Alea. Walking to the car, she has to get their first and there’s always a “winner.” Looks like she got the competitive spirit of her father!
S is for: Snow White. Currently Alea’s favorite Disney Princess, but I’d say The Little Mermaid and Rapunzel are tied for second. This girl is Disney Princess obsessed and will seriously play with her princesses all day if I let her!
T is for: Target. Along with Starbucks, I think Target is one of Alea’s favorite stores to go to. I’ve taught my girl well, what can I say?
U is for: Umbrella. Alea’s has a thing for umbrellas. Silly isn’t it? She’s loved them ever since we made our coffee filter umbrellas and ever since she got one for her birthday. We always giggle though, because we never have it with us when we’re out and about in the rain!
V is for: Vegetables. Something Alea is just not a fan of. Try as I may, I can’t get her to eat any vegetables besides corn and peas and some nights, even those two are hit or miss.
W is for: Water. Speaking of rain & umbrellas, this girl loves anything with water. Showers, baths, pools, lakes, sprinklers, her water table, you name it. If she’s in water, she’s happy!
X is for: Seriously? Nothing begins with X and I’m not going to make up some random story about a xylophone or an x-ray.
Y is for: Yogurt. We literally go through a two-pack of Chobani Champions yogurt every week. This girl’s going to make us go broke with her love of yogurt!
Z is for: Zoo. I’m almost positive this is Alea’s favorite place on earth. She says her favorite animals at the zoo were the lions and the tigers, which I find a little silly considering she didn’t want to go to the zoo in the first place knowing that those two animals were there. Oh, kids!
