Catch up on our weekend at the cabin:
Alea’s First Smores
The Cabin [Part One
Our first night at the cabin was so nice. There was a beautiful sunset, the resort was quiet, and we finally made a trip down to the lake to check it out. I couldn’t help but snap a million pictures (as usual) and was so thankful my mom was willing to snap some of Alea and I, too. As a mom, it’s hard to remember to get in front of the camera every once in a while, but I try to remember as often as I can! (Even though I hadn’t showered and in yoga pants and a sweatshirt!) Before heading down to the lake, we found a series of paw prints that my mom and I swore up and down were from a bear. However, after showing Cory the picture above he said it wasn’t big enough. The way the print was and how the claw dug into the ground– I could have sworn they belonged to a bear! Such a bummer, but kind of a relief at the same time! After heading back from the lake, we decided it was time for Alea to roast her first marshmallow and try her first s’more! (You can read about that HERE.)
The night before our second day at the cabin, I had plans to lay on the couch and read again, but I couldn’t seem to keep my eyes open for more than a couple pages of my book. I finally called it quits when my Kindle came crashing down on my face and startled me awake! After all that fresh air and running around that day, let’s just say we all slept like babies our second night. Even if the loons were going crazy or our neighbors were coming and going, I sure didn’t hear them! The sun didn’t wake Alea up as soon as it rose and Alea and I ended up sleeping in until 9:30am. I was in mommy heaven!
We had a delicious breakfast of scrambled eggs (with pepperjack cheese added in), bacon, and toast. Food just always tastes better when you’re at the cabin or away from home, doesn’t it? After that good night’s sleep, I certainly didn’t need a nap, but boy was I happy when I had an uninterrupted shower and time to get ready while my mom and Alea were playing at the playground again. Heck, I even went to the bathroom uninterrupted… that’s music to any mother’s ears! I joined Alea and my mom at the playground after I finished getting ready and was so happy to meet the owner of the Up North Resort. She was such a sweetheart and even offered to take us for a ride around the resort on her gator.
The resort was beautiful and they’re making way for more camper sites, as well. It was amazing to me that she’s so passionate about her resort and the business that she’s created for her and her husband. Her hearts in it and I can’t wait to spend more time at my mom’s cabin next summer!
And next weekend we’re going to a cabin with Cory’s family! I can’t wait to share another round of cabin adventures with you all!
