My Dress: Kohls | Alea’s Dress: Old Navy
A couple weekends ago we ventured down to the beautiful town of La Crosse, WI for a family wedding. Cory’s cousin was getting married and it was Alea’s very fist wedding. The ceremony was up on Granddad’s Bluff and it was just a picture-perfect afternoon for a wedding. I don’t think they could have picked a better day or a more beautiful location. It was simply perfect. The only imperfection? We arrived at EXACTLY 1pm when the wedding ceremony was to start. Yeah. Talk about embarrassing. But the funny part is that it was Cory and his brother that were holding up the show. They were brushing their teeth while all the ladies were dressed, primped and ready to go! All that primping went to heck though with the wind on top of the bluff so please excuse my puffed-out poodle hair. 😉
The reception was a lot of fun too. Alea was SO excited to dance, which surprised me because when we went to the Princess cruise she absolutely refused to dance. This time around though, she wasn’t shy what-so-ever and wanted nothing more to be on the dance floor dancing around with her cousins. We actually had to leave a little bit early than we had originally planned because during the first dance and the father-daughter dance, Alea threw an absolute fit because we wouldn’t let her run out on the dance floor and interrupt them. It was quite the battle, so we just decided to sneak out early. And as we drove home, Cory and I kinda giggled at how old we felt leaving a wedding reception at 9pm. At least we got a good nights sleep and didn’t suffer a hangover?
And it really got me thinking about what I want for a wedding… some day. I was jotting down mental notes in my mind of bridesmaids dress colors, friends worthy of that position, and giving some thought to the idea of an outdoor wedding. And I’m not the only one either. Cory’s mom was pointing out little decorations and the sweet addition of a dessert table. Hmm… anyone want to make bets? Will I be the next one in the family to get married?
