Oh yet another week is drawing to a close. This one flew right by as I kept busy with cleaning and lots and lots of wedding planning. I’m trying to sit back and enjoy the wedding planning process and the packing and moving process, but I have to admit I’d much rather just check things right off of my list. It’s been hard, I’m not going to lie. Tomorrow, I’m going to try on wedding dresses for the first time after a wedding planning lunch with my mom and I’m planning to fully relish in those moments. Especially when we enjoy my favorite lettuce wraps from PF Changs and they’re amazing iced tea. Seriously, if I had a favorite food those lettuce wraps would be it. My mouth is already watering just thinking about it. Oh, and I’m pretty excited to try on dresses, too 😉
While this week has been a little stressful with planning + packing, I still managed to snap some photos of the moments I enjoyed the most…
Reading: One of Alea’s favorite activities is to listen to her books that come with a CD. She’ll sit through this entire Disney Princess book while the CD reads with her. She’ll occasionally call out for me to make sure that she’s on the correct page, but for the most part she’s really good at keeping up with it. It reminds me so much of when she was younger and would tear all of her books off the book shelf and just sit there forever flipping through all of the pages. Growing up, reading was a huge passion of mine, so it warms my heart to see that rubbed off on her a bit.
Working Out: I started the 30 Day Shred yet again. I just can’t quit this woman! I haven’t been keeping up and doing it daily, but I’m not looking for a change in 30 days, I’m looking for a change in 5 months so I’m trying to slow things down and pace myself a bit. If I dive into something head first, I tend to hop right out again and it looses my attention pretty quickly. And you know what I discovered that I’m kicking myself for never doing before? Muting Jillian’s annoying orders and quotes and “that’s fear leaving the body” statement and turn my iPod on instead. It works wonders for my motivation and makes those 25-30 minutes go by so much faster! (No offense Jilly).
Planning: I chuckled a little bit to myself when Cory called me from Menards Sunday night to ask me how many Christmas lights I thought we would need at our reception venue. And then I chuckled a little bit more when I was searching Pinterest, blogs and Google Images to try and count the number of beams on the ceiling of the shelter house. And then I giggled even more when he told me that he had 16 boxes of lights in his cart and there were only 4 more boxes on the shelf. Then he laughed when I told him to just buy ’em out. That’s just what you do when Christmas lights are 50% off and you’re planning I wedding I guess! An older man in the check-out line asked Cory what all of the lights were for and when Cory told him they were for our wedding the man said, “What? You can’t afford a dress for her? You have to light her up?” And the laughter continues!
Accomplishments: I got my diploma in the mail yesterday and now everything feels so official. I tried three times to get into a nursing program and on the third time I finally was accepted and just two short years later, I’m here staring at this pretty little piece of paper. It’s truly amazing. I know there are people who didn’t think that I could do it, that thought I was crazy for trying to go to nursing school while juggling a being a young mother, but I did it. It certainly helped that the people cheering for me far outweighed those trying to hold me down. Next step, NCLEX… dun dun dun!
Reminiscing: I also spent some time looking (while crying of course) at pictures of my sweet little Alea when she was born. I didn’t start this blog until after Alea was a year old and I kind of hate that I didn’t fully document that first year of her life. I’ve never even sat down and written out her birth story. I remember writing it out always made it to my “to do list” but it never made it’s way onto paper or into my computer. Looking at this sweet photo of my little 8lb 6oz Alea inspired me to share some more of those squishy cheek pictures and also to write out her birth story. More to come on that very, very soon!
What sorts of things made your week special?
