Ask and you shall receive! I’ve received lots of comments and questions about our wedding planning ever since I announced our official date and I am more than happy to deliver. The whole wedding planning process is a lot more fun and a lot easier than I thought it would be. Of course it’s a little stressful at times trying to juggle this on top of getting ready to move this weekend, but all in all, it’s been a great experience. And to think I thought we were out of our minds when we decide on a June wedding (of this year). Heck, I even thought September was too soon! I think I underestimated myself a bit 😉 Let the planning continue!
1. Color Scheme:
Yellow, Grey, and hints of Coral.
2. Overall Theme:
We’re going for the rustic look. We’re thinking along the lines of burlap, lace, barn wood, chalkboards, that sort of thing. I’m already pinning tons and tons of ideas. Some of my favorites include this, this, this and this. We’re trying to keep our costs and our budget down as much as possible since Cory and I are paying for this wedding mostly ourselves.
My maid of honor will be my long-time best friend all the way back from elementary school, Bobbi. This girl is just about the sweetest person in my life and I can’t wait to have her by my side on my special day. She’s currently living in Louisiana, so it’s a bit of a long distance thing, but I told her that all the little maid of honor details don’t matter to me– I need her there and I no one else could fill those maid of honor shoes better than her!
I’ll only have two other bridesmaids, my friend from nursing school, Kim and Cory’s sister Sarah. But I mean “only” in a numerical manner because these ladies are so important to me. I don’t think I would’ve made it through the stresses and craziness of nursing school without Kim by my side. She has a heart of gold and I feel like her and I must have been sisters in another life time. She’s just amazing! And I couldn’t picture my bridal party without Cory’s sister as well. Growing up I always wanted a sister, so knowing that she’ll become my sister through marriage is just about the best thing ever!
These lovely ladies will be wearing this dress in ‘cement’ and these adorable shoes. I love the quirkiness of the crochet Toms + I’m basically obsessed with the colors grey and yellow. I’m thinking yellow and white flowers for the bridesmaids and then white, yellow, and coral flowers for my bouquet!
Cory asked his best friend, Tanner to be his best man and then his brother and brother-in-law will be the other two groomsmen. I love that we’re keeping our bridal party nice and small with those that we’re closest with. It’ll be so much more intimate and inexpensive that way. The groomsmen will be wearing grey tuxes and yellow bow-ties and Cory will be wearing a grey tux with a yellow tie! (Cory figured out their outfits all on his own… I’m so proud!) This pin was his inspiration (only the other way around)! And I personally love this boutonniere idea for the boys!
5. Other Details:
If you haven’t seen the other announcements, we’re getting married on June 28th, 2014 and Norskedalen Heritage Center. We’re having an outdoor ceremony and then our reception will be in the same location at their “shelter house”. I love the shelter house because it looks a lot like a barn. It even has a fire place and bar area! It’s so adorable and goes perfectly with our rustic theme.
Some of the bigger details are “out of the way” now and I can’t wait to see the rest come together. There’s going to be lots of DIYs and crafts for the smaller more exciting details and I can’t wait to get started on them all! It’s all coming together quite smoothly! (Knock on wood!)
