Yesterday at the grocery store I managed to sneak some hot cocoa into the grocery cart when Alea was looking. I wanted it to be a surprise for her when we got home and thankfully I was able to pull it off. It’s been so cold here lately and we basically froze our buns off running to the post office and the grocery store to grab a few things, so I knew we were going to need something to thaw us out when we got home.
After we got home and I unpacked the groceries, I told Alea to go sit down at the kitchen table while I made her a “surprise”. That alone was enough to make her day, but the smile on her face when I sat a mug of hot cocoa down in front of her was enough to make my day!
As if that smile weren’t enough, she came running over to me while I was loading the dishwasher and hugged my leg and said, “Mommy, thank you for making me hot cocoa today!” I scooped up that sweet, gracious little girl and give her the biggest bear hug I could. After I let go she ran back to her seat and started sipping on her hot cocoa again and I just looked on with tears in my eyes.
You’re so welcome sweet little girl, you are so welcome!
