Now that I’m working full time, I’ve been trying to find ways I can spend extra special time with my little girl. We’ve started reading chapter books before bed for a special bed time story time and we have more ice cream dates than I care to admit. I just hate the mornings when she tells me she doesn’t want to go to daycare and I know she misses me when I’m at work. And of course I miss her, too! These special moments are what get me through my days at work and I think my little Lou looks forward to these times, as well, when she’s at day care. Just this past week, I thought it would be fun to arrange a little spa day for Alea and I, to give both of us some much needed pampering and mommy daughter time. And let’s face it, this mama’s legs and toes needed some serious TLC. It’s shorts season after all and I’m all about the silky legs!
Prior to our little girls day, I spotted this perfect little end cap at Target completely equipped with everything Alea and I would need to rock our mother daughter spa day. I could almost hear her squeals of excitement as I picked out all the fun colors we would use!
Alea decided on a manicure for herself and I decided my legs and toes needed some love. As much as I wash my hands at work, I knew a manicure wouldn’t last very long anyways. Oh the life of a nurse! Alea and I contemplated her manicure for a while and we decided to do a “pink lemonade” look for her. Hot pink with a yellow accent nail and Alea was swooning. But, we didn’t stop there of course. It just wouldn’t be manicure without sparkles for Miss Alea. A glitter top coat and this girl was good to go!
Can I just say how amazing this Sally Hansen Insta-Dry nail polish is– especially for little kids? I, as an adult, have a hard enough time waiting around for my nail polish to dry and kids are about ten times worse. All it took was a minute or two and they were dry enough for Alea to run around and play. Thank goodness! It can be quite the chore to get the little ones to sit still just to paint their nails, let alone let them dry!
And I decided to go the French pedicure route. This is my absolute favorite look. It’s so classic, simple and I love that it goes with whatever I’m wearing. Remember how I mentioned that I’m a nurse a couple paragraphs above? Well, being a nurse requires me to wear close-toed shoes and I wear tennis shoes on a daily basis. These nails have lasted me an entire week of work and counting. I can’t even begin to tell you how impressed I am. The Sally Hansen Nail Art Striper made it all kinds of easy to apply, as well. I got a nearly perfect line on the first try and I could easily use the skinny brush for touch-ups.
There’s also this really fun Instagram contest going on June 11th through June 25th. All you have to do is follow these simple instructions and you’ll be entered to win $2,250 in Target gift cards to get you lookin’ summer ready!
1. Snap a photo of you getting summer ready.
2. Tag your photo using #MySummerLook and (on Twitter) @SummerReadyLook.
3. Post your photo to Instagram and/or Twitter.
I know I could sure use the extra Target money– especially with all of the BBQs, bonfires and beach days we have planned. Oh and that little wedding we have planned? Yeah, that too! Alea and I had such a blast with our spa day. I can’t wait until our next one and Alea’s already begging me to paint “white lines” on her toes, too!
How do you like to do your nails? Are you more partial to a mani or a pedi?
