It’s been a long, long winter here in the Midwest. We spent most of the winter in Minnesota at our old place, but the winters are no shorter here in Wisconsin. We learned that pretty quickly! Now that it’s finally warming up around here, we’re more excited than ever to spend as much time as we can outside. Alea’s obsessed with being outside, but quickly gets fussy and wants to return indoors if bugs start to well, bug her! She has a bit of a bug-phobia and will immediately start screaming if any bugs are flying near her. It drives me a little bit crazy, but I can’t blame her for being annoyed by all those pests– especially when we have plenty of mosquitoes here in Wisconsin! They’re everywhere!
We’re thankful for the beautiful weather, but not so thankful for the bugs. As it turns out, studies have been done showing that most people do love getting outside, but absolutely can’t stand the annoyance of all those bugs. It turns out Alea’s not alone! I think it’s time that we all spray ourselves with OFF!® insect repellent and get ourselves and our families back outside without having to worry about those pesky creatures!
Side note: My Alea’s getting pretty good with my camera! She took that photo of me and the photos of the sign and the flowers! I’ve got a budding photographer on my hands!
Alea’s constantly begging to go to the park. Not that I say no all that often, but sometimes mama just has some things to get done around the house. I gave in pretty quickly though, because I had just endured 2 days of being cooped up at work, and I know Alea was sick of being cooped up in the house after two days of rain. Armed with our OFF!® FamilyCare and OFF! Botanicals® repellents, we were out the door and having an awesome time. There’s nothing like enjoying the outdoors, and knowing we had protection from mosquitoes made us want to stay outside all day long!
As a family, we’ll be heading to Minneapolis, MN this weekend to attend a fun and exciting Get Outdoors Day event at Powderhorn Park. We can hardly wait! If you’re interested in the details, it’s a free family-friendly event with activities such as cycling, canoeing, stand-up paddleboarding, camping games, fishing, nature crafts and more! (I think Alea’s most excited for the nature crafts!) There will also be an OFF!® booth equipped with samples, tips and tricks, and a drawing for the chance to win a Trek bike! The event will take place on Saturday, June 14th from 12pm-4pm. If you’ll be attending, don’t forget to share via Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram with the hashtag #GOday and #TheOutdoorsMissesYou so I can follow along with your family fun! If you’re interested in learning more details of this event or looking for a Get Outdoors Day event in your area, check out this website. I hope to see you there!
