This post is sponsored by JOHNSON’S® Baby and The Motherhood, but as always, all opinions are my own.
I’m sure we can all remember when there was all that talk going around on the internet and everywhere else about the ingredients of the JOHNSON’S® Baby products. It was big news in the mommy world, especially. For a while, it seemed you couldn’t hop on Facebook without seeing a link posted by a friend that centered around the “harmful” ingredients that JOHNSON’S® Baby products. It was almost ridiculous at times.
If you’re unfamiliar with what I’m talking about (you may be living under a rock), I’ll fill you in briefly. JOHNSON’S® Baby was under fire a year or two back for two very specific ingredients in their baby products: formaldehyde-releasing preservatives and traces of 1,4 dioxane. Parents everywhere were outraged and these products were boycotted in the parenting community.
I’m not trying to mock those who were concerned with the ingredients of JOHNSON’S® Baby in any way. I was a little disturbed myself when I learned that their products contained formaldehyde. An ingredient found in the dead cats we dissected in my senior Anatomy + Physiology class in my daughter’s bubble bath? Well, that’s not cool! But, I have a little more faith in brands than most.
We continued to use these products, despite the scandal. And JOHNSON’S® Baby maintains today that those ingredients were never in excess to be a harm to the safety of our children. I agree with them, completely. Even though their products were not reformulated because they were a “safety hazard” they decided to reformulate their products because they cared about their customer’s opinions and wanted parents using their products to have more of a piece of mind. To me, that says a lot, considering so many companies of today have a “too bad so sad” mentality.
I chose to share this news with you, not only because I love these products and have always used them with Alea, but because I feel like we focus on the negative too much in the parenting community. We’re so quick to bash a company for not being 110% natural and eco-friendly. I want the news of them listening to concerned parents and changing the formula of their products to spread as much as the “unsafe” formula before did. Don’t you?
This reformulated soothing-vapor bubble bath came at the perfect time in our household. Alea’s been battling a nasty cold she caught at daycare for a week or so now. This bubble bath helped to clear out her sinuses and relax her before bed time and I loved the minty-fresh scent it left lingering in our bathroom.
I can promise you we’ll be using this bubble bath and lots of other JOHNSON’S® Baby products for years to come. But then again, we never really stopped loving them!
What do you think about JOHNSON’S® Baby’s newly reformulated products?
