Lately I’ve become consumed with finding the perfect make-up for my daily makeup routine. With this new interest has come lots and lots of money spent on products I’ve come to be disappointed with, unfortunately. Products that I’ll likely just end up tossing out– that is, until I stumbled upon the Neutrogena aisle at Target. Those white lights illuminating the products that would soon to become my favorite? Nothing short of spectacular!
When it comes to makeup, I need an easy and reliable routine that gets me looking fresh-faced and not overly made-up. With the emphasis being on “easy,” I need a makeup routine that will get me out the door in no time in the morning before I leave for work and to take Alea to daycare. And that routine, my friends, happens at 5am.
Here are the following products that I use in my daily makeup routine for my fresh-faced, everyday look.
001. For the Hair: I’m so head-over-heals for this moisturizing Neutrogena Triple Repair system. I always shower at night, so the night before work I lather the Triple Repair shampoo into my roots and the Triple Repair conditioner into my ends to help strengthen and help my hair hold up to all the crazy ponytails and messy buns I wear to work. The Triple Repair Leave-In Conditioner is wonderful too. Just apply to damp hair on the ends and let it take care of those pesky split ends!
002. For the Face: As a base foundation I use Healthy Skin Liquid Makeup. This foundation goes on smooth and is the perfect amount of coverage without looking like I had to cake it on to cover a blemish. Next, I use the Healthy Skin 3-in-1 concealer to blend in the dark circles under my eyes (especially on my 4th or 5th day of work in a row) and add a little extra coverage to blemishes I may have. To add a more matte effect, I add the Healthy Skin pressed powder on top with a little Healthy Skin blended blush on the apples of my cheeks.
003. For the Eyes: I like to play up my eyes a little more since I keep everything else pretty simple in my makeup routine. I use a little golden eye shadow to cover my eyelids and then outline my eyes in the super-smooth Nourishing Eye Liner. I know many people who only like to outline their upper lid, but I prefer a little more emphasis on my eyes and love to outline both my upper and lower lid. Finally, I add a couple swipes of the Healthy Lengths mascara in “carbon”. My eyelashes have never felt so healthy or so thick. This mascara really helps add some lift, but without dehydrating your lashes like some other mascara brands tend to do.
004. For the Lips: Finally I add a little tinted Revitalizing Lip Balm and I’m ready to head out the door. I even keep this in my scrub pocket at work in case I need to touch up throughout the day. And let’s face that– with the amount of coffee I drink, I reapply frequently and my baby soft lips thank me for it!
There’s nothing like an easy makeup and beauty routine to get a girl going in the morning. It feels so good, that after all these years and after all that money wasted on disappointing products, I’ve found a beauty routine that truly works and fits my skin and my lifestyle.
