It’s been over four years in the making, but I’m happy to say that I’ve finally, finally made it back to my pre-Alea body. It hasn’t been easy. It’s been a bit like playing with a yo-yo. One month I’ll be doing very well with my eating and exercising and then the next month I’ll be eating fast food every other day and hating my body.
It was just a vicious cycle.
Fast forward to when Cory and I set a date for our wedding and we moved to Wisconsin. I finally started eating better and watching my intake. I swapped a meal a day for a protein shake and walking miles upon miles at work as a nurse 3-5 days a week. It was like something switched in me and I was feeling absolutely amazing about myself and about my body. And that my friends, is such a great feeling.
I finally realized what it took to make me feel truly good about myself and I can’t tell you how good that felt. It was like a light switched on inside of me. I felt so, so good in my skin and my confidence was through the roof. I remember looking at photos of myself on my wedding day and being so pleased with how I looked. That was almost the icing on the cake, so to speak. It felt even better to be that happy with my appearance on one of the biggest days of my life.
It didn’t happen over night, though, that’s for sure. It’s been a long time in the making, this confidence I’ve found. I know the older we get, the more we grow to love ourselves, but with these four steps you’ll be feeling great in your skin no matter what your age is! Trust me 😉
How to Feel Good in Your Skin:
001. Get in your Greens: I’m officially addicted to the Aloha Blend Box of Daily Good Greens. It’s true. They’re all natural, vegan, whole-food product that not only provides hydration, but also gives me a nice energy boost at the beginning of my day. Every blend box contains 2 servings of fruits and vegetables. You just mix one packet in with your favorite juice, fruit and veggie smoothie, or even a glass of water. Sip away and know that you’re getting nothing but good stuff into your body + this will surely make you feel even better in your skin.
002. Drink 64oz of Water Daily: I don’t know about you, but when I’m not getting enough water I can certainly tell. I just drag and it feels like my days going in slow motion. If I’m ever feeling tired or groggy, I know that I’m really only one glass of water away from feeling so much better. Get yourself a nice refillable water bottle and start drinking my friends– water that is– and you’ll feel like a million bucks in no time!
003. Positive Self Talk: Make a habit of saying three good things about yourself in the mirror while you’re getting ready. We focus so much on the flaws that we see in ourself, don’t we? Change that! Start your day out with a little positivity and a little self-love and set a positive tone for the rest of your day.
004.10 Second Dance Parties: I don’t believe in a lot of things, but 10 second dance parties is something I believe with all of my heart and soul. There’s nothing like turning up the music, grabbing your hair brush microphone and dancing like no one is watching. Let your hair down and bust a move! It’ll feel great. Bonus points: Do so in your underwear and a button-up shirt a la Tom Cruise in Risky Business.
You can grab yourself some Aloha goodness, as well! You can enjoy an Blend Box of Daily Good Greens free trial of your own (just like I did) of six pouches in all three flavors for you to try. The trial is for fourteen days, but as an added perk, you can become auto-enrolled in their monthly subscription. It’s pretty nifty. I decided to continue my subscription with the variety pack. I love having a selection to grab from before I leave for work in the morning + knowing that I’ll be getting the nutrients in that I need, is just a nice piece of mind.
