Breakfast is one of my favorite meals of the day. Everything about breakfast foods is so comforting to me. Eggs, bacon, pancakes, french toast, hot cereal, you name it. They all remind me of all of the delicious breakfasts that my great grandma would make us when we came to stay with her. She of course made all kinds of other amazing meals for us, but breakfast always felt extra special.
I remember it always used to make me giggle, because she’d never ever use her microwave to make oatmeal. She always made it on the stovetop even if she was just making a single serving for herself for one of us kids. I never really understood that, but it almost makes it more special when you really put the time and effort into oatmeal and any recipe for that matter. Now, when I want to make an old recipe extra special, I just put a little extra time and love into it. Just like with this yummy Crock-Pot Raisin Spice Oatmeal recipe!
001. 4 cups Quaker Oats Old Fashioned Oats
002. 8 cups of water
003. 2/3 cup of turbinado sugar
004. 2 tsp cinnamon
005. 2 tsp nutmeg
006. 2 cups of raisins
007. 1 cup of real maple syrup
I grabbed all of the ingredients I needed for this recipe over at my neighborhood Target and Target is the only store that exclusively has the limited edition Quaker Oats Old Fashioned Oats 42oz & Quaker Oats Quick Oats 42oz winter canisters! Don’t forget to take this coupon along with you!
001. Combine all of the above ingredients (except the maple syrup) in a crock-pot. Mix all of the ingredients together.
002. Turn crock-pot on low and let cook for 8 hours.
003. After the 8 hours is through, stir oatmeal.
004. Dish out servings and drizzle with real maple syrup for added sweetness. You can also add a little milk or cream if that’s how you like your oatmeal!
Not only will your house smell absolutely incredible after those eight hours are through and while the oatmeal is cooking, but you will be left with the most amazing oatmeal to serve your family for breakfast. Don’t worry, they’ll thank you as soon as they’ve linked their bowls clean and then promptly start begging for more. And you’ll know that they’ve gotten a delicious and filling breakfast in their tummies and they’ll be ready to conquer your day. As will you!
