I’ve been so lonesome for my little Alea lately.
The only thing is, she’s not really so little anymore. She’ll be turning 5 in less than 1 month and she’s amazing me with all of the things that she’s learning at school and how big her sweet little heart is. I like to *think* that I have a little something to do with her brains and her kindness, but I know her amazing teachers at daycare and preschool have a lot to do with that.
Being a working mom, it’s hard to give-up on that time with your child. It’s really, really hard. It’s so important to me that Alea has some influential, supportive, and positive people in her life when I’m away at work. I feel so, so lucky that I’m able to live both of my dreams of being mother and being a nurse, but it still pulls at my heartstrings knowing that I can’t be there for every little moment. You know what I mean?
This winter it’s been even more of a struggle to be there as much as possible for Alea. We’ve been battling some serious cold and some serious sickness in this household and if I’m sick after a day of work all I want to do is throw on my jammies and hit the hay when I get home. That’s certainly not fair to miss Alea and after a long day at work and away from Alea, the last thing I want to do is miss out on even more of her day.
