Cory is forever giving me a hard time about how crazy my car is. I spent two hours cleaning my car just a couple of weeks ago and it’s already full of scattered cheerios, drawings Alea brings home from daycare and empty Starbucks cups. It’s both my fault and Alea’s fault. She likes to eat a baggie of cheerios on her way to school every morning, so naturally they just go everywhere. And I like Starbucks too much. If I wanted to keep a spotless car, I would literally have to vacuum it out on a daily basis. And we all know that’s just not going to happen.
There are ways I can attempt to manage the chaos of my messy car though and tips that I have to help both you and I keep our cars clean and our minds a little more sane.
1. A Garbage: Keep a garbage in your car. Whether that means it’s a cute little Pinterest-inspired trashcan or bin, or just a shopping bag that you from your most recent trip to the store. Either way, keep trash receptacle in a easy-to-reach location in your car. Then, every time you get gas, which if you’re like me is once per week, you can empty your trash into the trash can when you’re pumping gas.
2. PURELL® Hand Sanitizing Wipes: The small 35-count canister is absolutely perfect to keep in the cup holder for those sticky messy hands that you fear will smudge up your windows and stain your seats. Not to mention, they kick the germs! I grab one of these when Alea’s having a particularly messy time eating her snack and I have her wipe down her hands as soon as we get in the car when I pick her up from daycare. I don’t even want to know the amount of germs that are on her hand after that. These PURELL® Hand Sanitizing Wipes kill 99.9% of illness-causing germs. And that just makes my nurse-heart sing!
3. Every time you leave, take something out: This one is huge. Every time you get home, take something inside the house with you. Just the other day, I made sure to grab the handful of pictures Alea brought home from daycare over the course of the week and just doing that alone helped clean things up a bit. Thank goodness!
I even use these nifty little PURELL® Hand Sanitizing Wipes for myself. After I get off work, I grab one when I get into my car and wipe my hands off as well. Just knowing I’m killing the germs of whatever I encountered on my way out of the hospital makes me feel so much better and gives me a little piece of mind.
