Ooh cleaning. It’s the bane of our existence isn’t it? Somedays it just feels like once you get one area cleaned, it’s messy again before you finish cleaning the next area. It’s kind of like laundry. I don’t know if it’s the same in your house, but I swear we produce more than we’re able to wash/dry/put away! How that’s even possible, but that just always seems to be the case. The same goes for cleaning. I tend to put cleaning off until the weekends and then I’m struggling to get all of the cleaning done before Monday rolls around again. I just “don’t have time” during the week to clean, or at least that’s what I tell myself.
The truth, though? I do have time. I’m just too lazy and make excuses why I don’t think I have time to get cleaning done throughout the week. Once I plant my bottom the couch after dinner, there’s no way the dishes are getting done and I might as well kiss my productivity good-bye. It’s such an awful habit, but I’m determined to change my way of thinking on weekday chores.
That thought being: You can do anything in 15 minutes!
So I decided to challenge this notion, that there are dozens and dozens of separate chores you can do in just 15 minutes or less. I set the timer on my phone for 15 minutes and here are the chores I discovered that, when you’re motivated and moving quickly enough, can all be done in 15 minutes or less. And a nifty list for you to print off yourself! (You’re welcome!)
So what are you waiting for? Set your timer and put me to the test! If anything, you can pick a few of these chores to do each day during the week and you’ll no longer be a slave to cleaning (like I was) on the weekends. I see more family time, more productivity and less oh-my-gosh-I-have-so-much-cleaning-to-do anxiety for you and I both in the future!
In addition to trying to stay on top of the cleaning with these quick 15-minute chores, we’ve also been making the transition to a more greener, cleaner lifestyle. I’ve started incorporating more natural products in our personal care products as well as our food, and now I’ve also been working on transitioning our cleaning supplies to more natural products as well. I discovered Clorox Green Works products after pursuing the aisles at Target (this is the only store this product is available at!) a couple of weeks ago and it’s been a love affair ever since. (Check out this week’s circular for a 3/$8 deal on Clorox Green Works products!) They smell amazing, they do a great job of cleaning, and I love knowing that I’m not leaving the residue of harsh chemicals on the surfaces of our home. Since then, I’ve grown to love the Clorox Green Works dishwashing liquid, laundry detergent, cleaning wipes, and the Green Works All Purpose Cleaner as well!
It’s a win-win if you ask me. Better cleaning supplies and a better way of cleaning each day. Phew, my house, my husband, and my weekends are thanking me right now!
How do you manage to keep up with all the cleaning you need to get done each week?
