Our Sunday started out just like any other Sunday. We slept in until a little Alea came crawling into our bed around 8am. We stayed in our PJs well into the late morning and maybe even early afternoon hours. We ate cereal. We watched cartoons and I plugged away at crossing things off of my to do list. That good ol’ faithful to do list. That thing that helps me to get things done on the weekends, but keeps me from having the fun I know I should be having.
You know what, though? Sometimes you just have to put the chores and the to list aside and just spend the entire afternoon outside. I don’t stray too far from the to do list all that often, but it’s something I think I need to resolve to do a lot more of.
Sure, the dishes may pile up in the sink (who am I kidding, that drives me bonkers) and the carpet in the living room may not get vacuumed for the second week in a row (this doesn’t drive me too crazy) and maybe the toothpaste speckles will stay on the bathroom mirror for another day— but you know what? That smile and the hugs that result from an afternoon well spent outside on the slip n’ slide make all those chores that remain undone, completely worth it.
Our Sunday may have started out like any other Sunday, but it ended unlike any other Sunday, ever. Splashes, giggles, and this slo-mo Instagram video. Oh yes, there was fun to be had and we had it all!
Not Pictured: Cookie dough ice cream cones and dog slobber kisses. (Must-haves of course).
