Let’s pretend for a second that we’re not virtual. Let’s pretend for a second that you’re in my living room with me and we’re sipping on coffee or tea together just chit-chatting about the goings on in our lives. Let’s pretend for a second that we’re best friends in real life and we’re just two old friends catching up with one another. (I mean let’s be honest, wouldn’t that be nice!)
If we were having coffee today… I would offer you my last nutty caramel k-cup. Because it’s my absolute favorite and I know you’ll enjoy it just as much as I do.
If we were having coffee today… I would tell you that coffee always tastes better when you put the creamer in first– no matter what the skeptics say. And if anything, it’s easier because you don’t have to dirty a spoon to stir.
If we were having coffee today… I would probably apologize for the mess. I may even spend the first few minutes of our coffee date frantically picking up and apologizing because life is just too hectic lately to keep the house in tip-top shape. Please feel free to tell me to take it easy and take a seat!
If we were having coffee today… I would tell you that this infertility mystery is really starting to wear on me. I never could have imagined that the unknowns could be so exhausting, but that’s exactly how I feel about it all, exhausted.
If we were having coffee today… I would smile and laugh and change the subject because no one likes to talk about those sad, sensitive subjects for too long. There’s so many good things in our lives we can focus on instead. After all, those are the things that make the struggles even just a little bit easier.
If we were having coffee today… I would tear up when I tell you how nervous I am for Alea to start kindergarten. I know she’ll do great and she’ll make lot of friends and listen to her teacher, but I’m nervous for this huge step in her life. The way I see it, kindergarten means she’s no longer little. She’s going to learn so much and grow so much in this year and I’m so very nervous for that.
If we were having coffee today… I would ask you what’s going on in your life lately. I would ask you how your family is and what you guys have planned for the last weeks of summer. I would ask you how you keep it all together and how you manage to do it all– chores, work, friends and family. I’m envious of your life balance, what can I say!
If we were having coffee today, what would you tell me? What would you ask me?
