I don’t mean to get all hippy on ya today, but I’ve been doing some serious research into the products I use on my body, in my home and with my family. It’s getting harder and harder these days to decide what’s good and what’s bad. You know? I’ve been wanting to try my hand at making some homemade personal care products, so I thought I would start with an easy one– tooth paste!
This is such an easy recipe. I threw it together in less than five minutes and I think it would make a great gift to share with others this holiday season. Especially if you’re giving it in addition to a Philips Sonicare toothbrush! Talk about perfect, right?
Here’s the all too easy homemade toothpaste recipe:
1. 2 cups of coconut oil
2. 1 tablespoon of baking soda
3. 4 drops of lemon essential oil (for brightening your smile)
4. 5 drops of clove essential oil (for oral health)
1. Put two cups of coconut oil in a wide-mouth mason jar.
2. Add 1 tablespoon of baking soda and the essential oils and stir until mixed thoroughly.
3. Add a pinch to your tooth brush and brush away!
If you’re giving as a gift, it’s fun to dress up the mason jar with a little twine and a label or sticker. You can get creative, as well, and personalize it for the person you are giving the gift to.
My teeth feel so smooth and clean after brushing my teeth with this homemade toothpaste and my Philips Sonicare 2 Series toothbrush! It removes 6 times more plaque than a manual toothbrush, so it’s guaranteed to leave your teeth all kinds of clean and shiny! I bought mine on sale at Target– and I may have been tempted to buy the blue and the green colors as well– they’re so cute!
The Philips Sonicare 2 Series would make a great gift for that hard-to-buy-for person on your shopping list and this homemade tooth paste recipe would make a great stocking stuffer, don’t you think? Who doesn’t want to take better care of their teeth? 🙂
What sorts of homemade gifts do you like to give around the holidays?
