Sometimes it’s just the little things that get you through your everyday. There’s nothing wrong with that. We all need to focus on the little happy things in our life and the little things that put a smile on our face and a little extra pep in our step. Life is too fast not to, right? After surgery last week, I’ve been laying pretty low, but still managing to go to work. Thank goodness, because I swear they just don’t giveaway PTO like they used to. (winks) I’ve been letting Cory carry the laundry baskets and take out the garbage and do all of the grocery shopping. Because, I’m absolutely going to milk the “no lifting anything over 10 pounds for 2 weeks” thing for all it’s worth. Other than playing damsel in distress, I’ve been feeling just fine since surgery and am very happy that it’s all said and done. It’s not really something I wanted to do, but I’m hoping it helps us a little bit here in the future.
I should also mention, we just started looking at houses! We had big plans to build, but it’s just not quite in the cards for us quite yet. Maybe someday in the distant future, but as for now, we just want to find ourselves a place we can fix-up and make it ours. Wish us luck in that– me in particular, because I don’t have the gift of seeing the beauty in the blah like Cory does!
Back to the matter at hand… here’s what’s been bringing me a little bit of happy lately…
1 | Big Magic: I just started reading this book a couple of weeks ago and have been completely entranced with it ever since. I of course read Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert and loved following her along on her journey, but I really fell in love with Ms. Gilbert when I listened to her on this podcast. I’ve probably listened to that episode 10 times now and that’s not even close to an exaggeration!
2 | Lush Ocean Salt Scrub: I got this for Christmas from my mama and it’s been my favorite exfoliate forever and ever. It’s made out of all natural ingredients and really takes care of that yucky dry skin I get during the winter. And mmmm it smells delicious!
3 | Washi Tape: This one is a given. I mean who doesn’t love washi tape? I’ve been using it in my planner to make little DIY labels with a sharpie and Alea has been having fun using it in her arts and crafts as well. Good job, Santa, on the awesome stocking stuffer!
4 | Abundance Essential Oil: This essential oil has become my absolute favorite essential oil to wear daily as a perfume. It has a citrusy, spicy scent to it and I’ve got lots and lots of compliments on it, as well! I just put two drops on my wrists, rub them together and then rub them on my neck– it’s the perfect amount of scent without being too overwhelming.
5 | Homemade Coffee Creamer: I’m officially on my second batch of my homemade coffee creamers and I don’t think I’ll ever be able to go back to the store bought variety. Well, truthfully, I did go back in between batches (desperate times call for desperate measures) and it just made me wrinkle up my nose. It didn’t help that it was just a blah gas station brand, I suppose. I’ll just stick with the homemade stuff. If you’re looking to make it– the cinnamon vanilla is perfection!
And there you have it!
What’s been making you happy lately?
