Ever since we moved to Wisconsin (almost two years ago now… whoa) we haven’t been doing as much traveling as we used to. And by “traveling” I mean going back and forth between MN and WI to visit Cory’s family. It’s been a bit of a relief and I’m sure we’ve saved quite a bit on gas and other travel expenses. But sometimes I miss that we don’t get back to MN as much to visit my family. Maybe once this awful snow storm we’re in the midst of here in WI passes, we can think about planning another trip to visit them!
Our most recent trip to the Twin Cities was for Christmas. It felt so weird to be back in the neck of the woods I grew up in and it was so bizarre to see all of the changes that have taken place. It’s almost nothing like I remembered. That’s life though, you know. It just keeps on living even without ya! During this most recent trip back, I knew that I wouldn’t be doing a whole lot of blogging, but I knew that I better bring the necessities with just in case the mood struck or just in case I needed to get a quick post up.
If you have any trips or traveling planned for the near future, here are a few things I recommend you have along with you. This is really just the bare bones, but it’s exactly what you’ll need to be successful!
one | DSLR Camera: I’m a big believer in always having my “big-girl camera” in hand. You never know when the perfect photo opportunity will grace you with it’s presence or when you’ll have a great idea for a blog post right before your very eyes. I’ve been in that situation far too often when I’ve thought “I wish I had a better camera with me– this would be perfect!” and I would prefer not to be put in that situation whenever possible!
two | iPhone: If you’re like me, you love to Instagram or Snapchat along the way, too.
three | MacBook Pro: I’m a MacBook girl through and through and am so happy I made the switch a few years ago. It’s small, it’s portable, and it does exactly what I need it to and I’ve literally never once had a problem with it. We’re best buds on-the-go, let me tell ya. And if you’re blogging on-the-go, you’ve got to have a place to get those posts from your head to the interwebs!
four | iPad: A great way to manage your social media and interact with those on social media on a handheld, but bigger-than-your-phone level. You know what I mean? Sometimes my phone screen is so small it gets annoying, but I also don’t want to pull out my entire laptop. That’s where the iPad comes into play!
five | Sahale Snacks: I always have to have a snack nearby when I’m blogging. You know, just a little something to snack on while I’m blogging. Always! And recently, my favorite snack to snack on has been these Sahale Snacks Maple Pecans. It’s a sweet and salty snack mix with walnuts, cinnamon, apples, and cherries all mixed together for a sweet and salty treat. It’s hard not to eat them all in one sitting, trust me!
six | Notebook + Pens: I’m a daily list-maker and without my lists I am completely lost. I always, no matter how far I’m traveling, will always have a notebook and a pen or two on hand. You never know when you’re going to have a brilliant idea (I, for one, wish those happened more often), need to make a good ol’ fashioned “to do” list or write/sketch out a blog post plan. Technology is wonderful, but sometimes you just have to take pen to paper.
And there you have it! If I had it my way, all of the above would come with me no matter how far I traveled– even if it was just down the street to the local grocery store! I just pack all of the above up in a cross-body bag or backpack and I’m good to go!
And those snacks I pointed out? I mean it when I say they’re incredible. They have some delicious granola bars and smaller packages of nut mixes as well. They’re just a great snack to have on hand and on-the-go. They’re a pretty consistent snack I have on hand in my work bag as well. Mmmmm mmmmm good! They even have a promise to sustainability with their products and you can read more on that here.
What else would you add for blogging on-the-go?
This is pretty much my bag on a daily basis. Maybe not the computer, but definitely when I travel!
Fun list!

These are all great! I was really excited to get my DSLR last summer but it’s tough to carry around with travels!
