I’m really a no-fuss kind of a girl when it comes to doing my make-up each day. I need something quick and easy and natural for my 9-5 job as a registered nurse. I have a thing for neutral tones, covering imperfections and adding a little color where needed. And that’s about it. Nothing too extravagant, nothing too crazy, just natural and simple and quick!
Just for fun, I’m going to walk you through step-by-step what I do each morning when I’m getting ready for the day. Grab these high-end dupes all available at Walmart and play along!
one | Primer: Using a quick swipe of Covergirl’s TruBlend Dry Skin Primer keeps my make-up intact through my long day at work and prevents that greasy look later on. Since it’s pretty dry here in the winter, it also helps that this is a moisturizing primer so it smooths out any dry skin trouble spots I might have.
two | Light Foundation: I’m not one for a full-coverage foundation, that’s why I like a light and fresh foundation. If I have anything that needs a little more coverage, I just use a little concealer. (See next step.)
three | Concealer: If I have any under-eye circles from those nights where I just can’t get enough sleep or I’m fighting a break-out, I’ll dab on a little concealer to get things under control.
four | Bronzer: I’m as pale as they come in the winter so I like to brush a little bronzer on my cheekbones, brow bones, nose and chin to give my face a little more color and a little more dimension. You can purchase this one here.
five | Blush: I’m notoriously turning red in the cheeks in any situation that’s even remotely embarrassing, but I still like to add a little rosy tint to my cheeks each day. Maybe that way it looks like I blush on purpose, right? You can purchase this one here.
six | Eyeliner: I’m an eyeliner girl through and through and a serious one at that. I like it on both my top and my bottom lids. I feel like it makes me look more awake and more alive and it’s just something I’ve done forever– I can’t stop won’t stop!
seven | Eye Shadow: My favorite part is adding just a little color to my eyelids. I love going with a more gold tone to bring out my hazel-green eyes. I add a darker color towards my eyeliner and a lighter towards my crease. In this case I used sable and coffee respectively. I also added a lighter dab of ‘buff’ under my brow and in the inner corner of my eye to bring a little more brightness to my eyes. This Covergirl TruNaked palette is my new love, no doubt.
eight | Mascara: I love me some nice, dark, curled lashes. It’s the perfect way to complete the eyes and let’s face it, I look and feel naked if I don’t have mascara on! I just started using this Plumpify mascara in very black and have been pretty impressed! I feel like it takes my lashes from barely there to plump and perfect!
nine | Brow Pencil: My most recent make-up obsession lately has been filling in my brows. I don’t have very thick or full eyebrows, so filling them in is an absolute must for me. Just a quick swipe along the natural shape of my brow and I feel more confident and put together.
ten | Lip Balm: When it comes to my lips, I need something that’s both moisturizing but adds a little pop of color as well– enter these cute Oh Sugar lip balms– they do just that and they’re absolutely adorable to boot! I used the color “spice” here!
