One thing I’ve always tried to instill in Alea as she grows up is the importance of giving back to others and giving back to our community as well. I try my best to show her that it doesn’t take a ton of money to make a difference in someones life and I have to say, judging by Alea’s love of giving, we’re doing a pretty good job of it! We’re always getting reports from her teacher that she’s always so willing to help her out in class and so willing to help the other kids as well.
Recently, for a homework assignment for school, Alea had to think of 1 random act of kindness to do and share with the class. We did some serious brainstorming and finally decided to bake chocolate chip cookies and put them in the mailbox with a thank you card for the mail man! It completely made her day to plan and do this and we sure hope it made our mail carrier smile!
Medtronic has created a worldwide program entitled “The Bakken Invitation Program” that recognizes and celebrates those who are helping others in their community and beyond each year. Named after the co-founder of Medtronic, Earl Bakken, this campaign only helps enforce Medtronic’s beliefs of quality and affordable healthcare. Just take a look at how 2015’s Honorees have chose to Live on Give on!
