We have lots and lots of coloring books at our house. Lots! And don’t get me wrong, they’re all fine and dandy, but sometimes you just need a little something different. Especially now that I have my own adult coloring books, Alea’s taken a liking to more of the intricate designs you find in those books as opposed to the character coloring books she has. It’s not that I don’t want to share or anything (okay, maybe I don’t), but it just dawned on me the other day that we could make our own coloring sheets quite easily!
Just take a looksee! It’s a whole lot easier than you imagined, I’m sure!
1. White piece of paper
2. Bold black marker
5. A little creativity
1. Color all over white sheet of paper with a bold, black marker. The crazier, the better! If you want to draw out a picture (if you’re better at drawing than I am) you can absolutely do that as well.
2. Re-trace over the lines to make sure they’re all approximately the same thickness and they’re all completely black.
3. When finished, scan your drawing and upload to your computer. When you scan the drawing, it should save as a PDF.
4. Print out a couple and start coloring! Don’t forget to save your PDF file to your documents for future printing and coloring!
We had such a blast with this. I’ll have to keep our permanent markers under lock and key, because I have a feeling that Alea is going to want to make lots more coloring sheets. And let’s face it, I don’t really want her to have free access to a permanent marker… yikes!
This makes a great after school activity or a weekend activity to keep your kids busy for a little bit so you can finally get those dishes done or the living room vacuumed. Just set them up at the table with some of their very own coloring sheet creations, some markers, colored pencils, and crayons and a small bowl of Goldfish® Mix Xtra Cheddar crackers! These make the best snack, guys! They’re all kinds of crunchy, the new flavors are delicious, and I may or may not steal a handful when Alea’s not looking!
