I know I keep mentioning this “new house” of ours on this here blog, but I have yet to show you guys pictures. I apologize, but it’s in complete disarray right now. Trust me. Those photos I posted of our living room and kitchen on Instagram? You just can’t see the pile of boxes nearly feet away. Oh the wonders of Instagram, am I right?
However, the one aspect of our house I was most excited about? THE DISHWASHER. I’m not even kidding you. It needed a small repair to keep it from leaking and I told Cory that was the very first thing he had to do when we moved in… because this lady was so incredibly sick of doing dishes by hand. #FirstWorldProblems, right? But seriously.
And now that we have and use a dishwasher on the daily, I’m starting to recall the little annoyances of having a dishwasher. Like when spoons come out still dirty and when a dried Fruit Loop somehow makes its way through the harsh temperatures and soapy conditions of the dishwasher.
Buuuut, I’m happy to share with you a few products I’ve found to make my dishwasher days a little less annoying, a little more clean, and oh so lemony fresh!
one | Clean Your Dishwasher: Our dishwasher at our previous home (a couple houses ago… we move too much), I honestly don’t think I ever cleaned it. No wonder we didn’t get along so well towards the end, there. But when you literally wash things in the dishwasher a couple times a week (or more) and it’s consistently exposed to high temperatures and soap, you wouldn’t think that you really needed to clean it, right? Wrong! Just think of all the crud that goes in and out of that dishwasher? Now that’s enough to make you cringe! I found this Lemi Shine Dishwasher Cleaner and I’m in love. I get cleaner dishes now that my dishwasher is actually clean! Who would’ve thought!
two | Rinse First: This always feels like it’s defeating the purpose of being lazy and just sticking the dishes in the dishwasher, but you will have much cleaner dishes if you actually take a couple seconds to rinse out pans and plates before putting them in the dishwasher. And in turn, it will save you so much frustration, too. I’m loving the Lemi Shine dish soap! The scent is so fresh and the design of the bottle is cute enough to leave out on my kitchen counter.
three | Use a Natural Detergent: My husband is under the mindset, that the harsher the chemicals, the cleaner the clean. But, that’s not necessarily true! I’ve proved him wrong time and time again with natural cleaning products in our home and I’m happy to say I did so again with the Lemi Shine Dishwasher Packs! These are wonderful and my dishes always come out incredibly clean!
four | Boost Your Detergent: Sometimes even the best dishwasher detergents need a little boost! For that, I use Lemi Shine’s Detergent Booster. We have hard water in our house (I hope to invest in a water softener down the line) and it can leave hard water stains on my glasses. It’s just horrid! Using a little bit of this detergent booster works wonders, though, and leaves my glasses sparkling clean!
Trust me on this one, follow those above steps and your dishes will be sparkling clean and shiny fresh out of the dishwasher. But let them cool before you put them away. I’m always a little over-eager to put them away and burn the tips of my fingers. Ouch! (I can’t be the only one that does that!)
