The sun is shining, the temperature is warming up, and the birds are chirping here in the Midwest. We couldn’t be happier that the snow is gone, there are leaves on the trees and the flowers are in full bloom! We’ve actually been able to get outside to go for walks and sit outside on our new patio to eat dinner! There’s just something about being outside again after a long, cold winter that just warms my soul!
Just the other night, Alea and I decided to have a little outdoor craft and snack time. We grabbed our new favorite Goldfish crackers—the honey mustard and pretzel variety is divine—and the pinecones we collected a few days prior. She’s been begging me to make pinecone bird feeders and suggested I put it “on my blog to teach other kids how to do it, too!”
Oh the child of a blogger! Gotta keep her around for these good ideas, though!
2. Peanut butter
3. Bird seed
4. String or yarn
1. Spread the peanut butter on the pinecones and then sprinkle the bird seed onto the pinecones or roll the pinecones in bird seed. (Whichever is easiest for your little to do.)
2. Attach a string to the top of the pinecone and hang from a tree.
It’s not all too complicated, right? Alea wants me to add, though, to be sure to hang it from a tree branch that you can see easily from a window in your house so you can keep an eye on it to see when birds come and eat!
Such a fun and easy craft that’s perfect for the outdoors—because who wants peanut butter and bird seed smeared all over their kitchen table? Am I right?
Now grab your kiddos favorite Goldfish snack and head outside to whip up these fun and super easy bird feeders! Goldfish crackers are the perfect snack for kids that are on-the-go and on-the-move and especially easy to grab for outdoor activities, car rides, and summertime fun! (And they make a great snack for mom, too!)
