The one room in our house that almost always gets the most cleaning and the most attention is most definitely our kitchen. Even with a handy dandy dishwasher now, I feel like I’m forever loading and unloading it and being it’s one of our most-used rooms in our house, it certainly needs the most cleaning. I’m sure you mama’s and other homeowners can agree and commiserate!
The one thing that I’m very picky about when it comes to my kitchen is the way it smells.
I know, it sounds awfully silly, but I feel like when a kitchen smells good it also feels cleaner as well. There are many, many ways that you can make sure that your kitchen is smelling so fresh and so clean, but I have my two top tips to share with you today. I’m excited to let you in on my little secrets and I bet your kitchen will be smelling cleaner and fresher in no time at all! (Trust me—they’re super easy tips!)
Tip #1: Use Hefty Ultra Strong Trash Bags
You gotta take it one step further and get the scented ones. I personally love the lavender + sweet vanilla scented ones as well as the citrus twist scent. The Hefty Ultra Strong trash bags have Arm & Hammer odor neutralizers to help keep those funky garbage odors at bay. And if you’re not into the scented bags, they also have an unscented version that’s just as great at blocking those pesky odors as well. I love that these bags are made to be tear-resistant as well because let’s face it. There’s nothing worse than trying to take out a ripped, leaky garbage bag! Yuck! They’re high quality and available at a new, lower price!
You can also download the Ibotta app and use get $1 back after purchasing Hefty Ultra Strong trash bags. Check out the details HERE and head on over to Target or Walmart to grab them.
Tip #2: Stove Top Homemade Air Freshener:
This is one of the easiest things you can toss together and throw into a pan on your stove top to freshen up the kitchen. Just grab the ingredients below, follow the instructions, and you’ll be well on your way to a fresh, clean smelling kitchen! (Even if you still need to put the dishes in the sink into the dishwasher!)
1. 1 Lemon
2. 1 Lime
3. 1-2 sprigs of Rosemary
4. 1 tablespoon of Vanilla Extract
1. Cut lemon and lime into slices.
2. Pour 1 tbsp vanilla extract into a mason jar.
3. Add lemon and lime slices and rosemary sprigs and fill the rest of the jar up with water.
4. Either seal jar and store in the fridge to save for later OR pour into a saucepan on the stove. Simmer and let the aroma fill your kitchen with a citrus, herb, and sweet scent!
The natural kitchen air freshener is also a great way to freshen up the scent in your home prior to having guests over or to get rid of that “wet dog” smell after your pup gets a bath. Do you eat a lot of fish in your home? This is also a fabulous way to get rid of that left over fishy smell!
Needless to say, these two tips are a sure way to get kitchen smelling cleaner and fresher in no time flat!
