Did I have you at “bacon”?
I know that’s all it takes these days, for me. I’ve been buying the low-sodium and non-cured variety and loving BLTs like you wouldn’t believe this summer. It’s the perfect summer sandwich, so incredibly easy to put together at the end of a work day, and I finally discovered a way to make less of a mess! You see, that’s the only problem… bacon can be messy… very, very messy. All that grease splattered this way and that way on the stove makes quite a mess, but a friend of mine recently told me you can make bacon IN THE OVEN.
I owe her… big time!
It’s really crazy easy, actually. Just lay out your bacon on a foil-lined pan (to help even more with the mess). The next step is up to you. You can either lay the bacon flat on the foil or you can raise it up with a cooling rack. This will let the grease drip below the bacon and give your bacon a little more crunch.
Preheat your oven to 400 degrees fahrenheit and bake for 15-20 minutes depending on how crispy you like your bacon. I usually leave mine in for 20-25 minutes because I like mine extra, extra crispy! Mmmm. Of course, you’ll have to adjust to how hot your oven cooks as well, so keep that in mind, and keep a close eye on your precious bacon the first couple times you make it in the oven.
Whether you’re making your bacon in the oven for a yummy breakfast, crumbling up your oven bacon for some sort of maple-glazed dessert or serving up BLTs for the whole family, I promise you you’ll be an oven bacon convert in no time after trying this out!
No, but seriously! SO GOOD!
Have you ever made bacon in the oven?
