Ya’ll can I just tell you how absolutely crazy and absurd it feels to know that in just a few short weeks, my daughter will be going to first grade!? When in the world did that happen? And please tell me why it seems like the older they get, the faster and faster time flies by. It’s just so surreal! Just yesterday, I dropped Alea off at her Jump Start 1st Grade class (I know, we’re such mean parents making her go to summer school right before school starts… but she truly does love it) and she walked right into her classroom, walked right to her table and sat down without batting an eye. I literally had to follow her into her classroom and request a hug good-bye!
Quit growing up so gosh darn fast, my child!
Needless to say, I’ve been trying to cram in all of the time I can with my sweet little girl before she goes back to school and before our new little addition arrives at the end of October. (I know when that little tiny pumpkin arrives, Alea will look about 10 years older…)! Just last week, I decided to take my little miss out on a Mommy Daughter Day Date and it was absolute perfection.
We ran around town doing all those “necessity” things like dropping off bills and returning library books and then we went out for lunch together at TGI Friday’s. She had her favorite food, mac & cheese and I had the most delicious french dip sandwich I’ve ever had in my entire life. (That might be the pregnant taste buds talking, but seriously… it was to die for). Along with the most delicious french dip, I sipped on the most refreshing Gold Peak Brewed Iced Tea. I’m a classic kinda gal, so I enjoyed every last sip of my unsweetened tea and felt immediately refreshed. Our waitress was just about the cutest thing in the world and kept them coming throughout my meal. My bladder didn’t appreciate that quite as much as my taste buds did! 😉 Simply delicious and honestly the most perfect summer beverage, if you ask me!
After we filled our tummies (and our bladders), we headed out for one of my most favorite back-to-school traditions– back-to-school supplies shopping! There’s just something about all of those fresh notebooks, freshly sharpened pencils and perfectly lined-up crayon boxes that just sends me into a frenzy! I’m so thankful that Alea enjoys searching for the perfect school supplies as much as I do and we had a great time shopping in the middle of the day in the middle of the week without the weekend shopping crowds stressing us both out!
After school supplies we grabbed a few things for baby’s nursery and grabbed a couple cute back-to-school outfits as well. Alea’s quite the shopper, though, let me tell ya. She also talked me into buying a cute little sweater for baby and a “little sister” onesie for baby sissy, too. Shopping trips are always more fun when she’s around, but they’re also a little more expensive, too!
Make the most of what you have left of your summer and head out of a stay-cation in your town! Don’t forget to hit-up your local Del Taco, Red Robin, Jack N The Box, Five Guys, Boston Market, Carls’ Junior or TGI Friday’s for an iced Gold Peak Brewed Tea. They have a few different flavored varieties or you can go for the classic sweetened or unsweetened. I’m an unsweetened tea girl all the way and after two of these I was feeling very refreshed!
