Growing up, I remember spending countless hours running around our neighborhood with all of the kids in the neighborhood. We would ride our scooters, our bikes, and walk to the park to play on the playground, swing on the swings and play “Don’t Touch the Ground.” It made summers so much fun to have so many kids to call my friends and so many friends to play with at any given moment. Some nights we would even get to stay out until the curfew siren rang at 9pm. Does any one else’s city/town have a curfew siren?
We don’t have a lot of kids in our neighborhood, but just got word that one of Alea’s classmates will be moving closer to us. She’s going to be over the moon excited to play with her friend in the summer and after school!
Don’t get me wrong, summer playtime is fun and all, but the best season of all to play outside has got to be fall. A couple weekends ago, Cory spent some time outside raking the leaves from our beautiful maple trees and raked them into a monstrous pile for Alea to jump in. It was getting dark by the time he finished it because we had SO many leaves in our yard, so he got to surprise Alea with it the next day.
Let me tell ya, you haven’t seen JOY in the eyes of a kiddo until you’ve seen a kiddo surprised with a pile of leaves the size of a swimming pool!
She jumped in that leaf pile so many times that we had to pile-up the leaves again and again. Bentley, our chocolate lab, even joined in on the fun! After that came wagon rides pulled by the lawn mower– which for the record, Bentley did NOT enjoy!
Usually after an afternoon of leaf-jumping, leaf-picking, giggles and fun, we have to BEG Alea to come in and have a snack. That’s not the case when we have CLIF Kid Zbar®s on hand! Nothing gets her away from a leaf pile faster than these delicious kids protein bars.
She loves the chocolate chip and iced oatmeal cookie varieties and I love that CLIF Kids is all about encouraging kids to get outside and play! I also love that they’re made with organic ingredients, they’re non-GMO, no high fructose corn syrup, no artificial flavors, and they’re packed with important nutrients to keep Alea playing! No matter the season, get your kids outside and get them playing in mother nature. There’s really nothing better than a little fresh air– trust me– you’ll be thanking me come bedtime!

It’s hard to believe, after looking at these photos again, that we’re actually expecting SNOW tonight in Wisconsin. We’ve had such a mild fall, though, that we kind of deserve a little coating of the white stuff in time for deer hunting opener this weekend. What’s hard to believe is that our neighbors to the west in Minnesota are expecting upwards of 18″ of snow– so much so that they were already canceling schools yesterday! I’m glad we moved one state over and just a little to the south! 😉
