When it comes to bath time, I swear it’s always an argument in our household. One way or another we end up begging Alea to get into the tub and then we end up begging her to get out of the tub. I can’t be alone in this, can I?
Growing up I remember being the same way, though. My mom used to fight with me to get me in the tub and/or shower just about every time. Truthfully, I still don’t like making time to take a shower because when I shower that means I have to do my hair again, and then I need to put lotion on, and put a pound of product in my hair so it doesn’t turn into a frizz ball, etc. You ladies know the drill—it’s hard work!
It got me thinking, though, maybe Alea’s protesting is payback? (Sorry mom!)
Recently I became so sick of the whining and crying surrounding bath time, so I’ve been testing ways to make bath time a little more bearable in our household and have some tried and true tips to share with you if you’re in the same boat as us!
1. Fun Soaps and Shampoos: Alea is big on fun soaps and shampoos for sure. And she LOVES when they also boast her favorite characters. Meet NEW Suave Kids® Disney Frozen Elsa 2-in-1 Shampoo + Conditioner in Berry Flurry. She’s obsessed with the smell, loves that her favorite Disney character, Elsa is on the bottle and I love that it’s a 2-in-1 product that saves me time when it’s time to wash her hair! And Bonus! It’s tear-free. Definitely a must with kids!
2. Bath Bombs and Glow Sticks: Have you introduced your child to the magic that is glow sticks in the bathtub with the lights dimmed or turned off? It’s like a whole new world! If I’m having a particularly difficult time getting Alea in the tub, I break out the glow sticks and she practically dives in! Bath bombs are fun, too. They love watching them fizzle and bubble!
3. Break out the Toys: We threw a lot of those squirting bath toys away when we discovered they were breeding grounds for mold, but ever since we’ve been accumulating some fun easy-to-clean bath toys. Most of which are actually plastic plates, cups, bowls and spoons right from the kitchen! They’re Alea’s favorite and she loves to play “restaurant” and serve Cory and I our favorites like lobster and soup!
4. Plans for After Bath Time: Once we get Alea in, sometimes it’s getting her out that proves to be the most difficult. If I think ahead and plan a fun story, move snack time to after bath, or turn on the Disney Pandora station for pajama time, she’s more than happy to hop out of the tub!
Of course, it’s not always this easy, but having some great products on hand has been so fun. In addition to our Elsa 2-in-1 Shampoo + Conditioner, we also have Suave Kids® NEW Disney Frozen Olaf 2-in-1 Shampoo + Body Wash in Icy Grape and the NEW Disney Frozen Anna Detangler Spray in Sparkle Berry on hand. Alea’s hair is almost down to her bottom again, and trust me, we deal with some pretty snarly hair. This detangler spray is our lifesaver after bath and before school in the morning! I swear we should buy stock in detangler between the two of us!
So happy these products are so kiddo friendly, they’re gentle on Alea’s sensitive skin, and they get her squeaky clean. You can find yours at Walmart and Target!
How do you get your littles in and out of the bath peacefully?
