Remember how in Mckenna’s first and second month post how I said that I would try to get around to writing separate posts for months three and four? Looks like I did a really good job of that, right? Goodness sakes. Let’s just say, life has gotten all kinds of busy with me back to work. We’ve all adjusted relatively well, but it just seems like a whirlwind in the morning before I leave and then a whirlwind once I get home. Weeknights are one big blur of throwing dinner together, working on homework with Alea, washing bottle and pump parts and packing lunches for the next day. Sometimes I barely sit down (with the exception of dinner) until 9pm!
I wouldn’t change it for anything though. I love being back to work and I love having that time during the week to do what I love and what I worked so hard in school for. Being a nurse is definitely what I was meant to do. Of course I miss my baby girl and my big girl when I’m at work, but I know they’re very well taken care of! Now I just wish daycare wasn’t so gosh darn expensive! 😉
We’ll split this post up similarly to how we did with our last post. You can catch up here:
Mckenna // Month 1 & 2
If you can’t tell, she cooperated much, much better with her four month photos than she did with her three month photos!
Just before turning 3 months old, little Miss Mckenna started daycare! Being that Alea didn’t go to daycare until she was much, much older, I’m surprised I wasn’t more nervous sending Mckenna off to daycare at just 12 weeks of age. As expected, she’s adjusted very well. From the sounds of it she eats well and naps well and plays well. There’s really only been one day where she was absolutely refusing the bottle and only drank a few ounces. I’m so relieved that didn’t last more than that day!
She finally started enjoying tummy time a little more and she started holding her head up really well! You can tell they definitely work on tummy time with the babies at daycare, that’s for sure! One of her favorite things, still, is getting her diaper changed. She loves being on her changing table and is always smiling, talking and giggling when she’s getting her diaper changed. It’s so fun!
This month, Mckenna went up to 3 month and 3-6 month clothes and size 1 diapers!
No appointment this month, so no update on her weight and length.
Since rolling from her tummy to her back, Mckenna has been working so hard to roll from her back to her tummy. It’s kind of humorous considering she doesn’t love being on her tummy! She gets stuck on her side, but I have no doubt she’ll check that milestone off her list by the end of this month!
She’s still in 3 month and 3-6 month clothes. We still also have her in size 1 diapers, but mainly because when I stocked up I bet like 1 giant box too many. Once we’re out, we’ll move her up to size 2. No regrets, though, because I haven’t had to buy one pack of diapers her entire life thus far and we have lots of size 2 diapers stashed away, too!
Playtime is getting to be more and more fun. In months prior, Mckenna didn’t really like to just lay in her little play gym for extended periods of time, but just the other day she played for a good hour all on her own! We also put her high chair together and she’ll sit in there for a while as long as I have some toys to keep her occupied. This is so nice when it comes time to make dinner or do dishes!
She also started grabbing at her feet and can hold her teething ring or her Sophie giraffe in her hand for longer periods of time. She’s basically obsessed with trying to grab her feet, though!
I’ll update her weight and length after her 4 month well baby visit I have scheduled for my next day off on 3/16. I can’t wait to see how much she weighs!
I think I’ll just have to continue doing two months at a time now. It’s so much easier this way and let’s face it, I’m probably just going to keep forgetting to do this monthly anyways. Heck, it’s a miracle I even get the pictures taken each month!
Now stop growing so gosh darn fast sweet girl!
Note to Self: Buy new white onesies for monthly photos. 0-3 months size probably isn’t going to cut it next month!
