I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t petrified to go on our first long car trip with our little miss Mckenna. The longest she’s been in the car is probably 45 minutes at this point and she’ll be 5 months old on Monday! Alea took her first 3 hour or longer car ride when she was just 4 weeks old! We’re a little behind, I’d say!
You see, my family lives about 3 hours away from us, so we’re headed to the cities this weekend to do some shopping and spend some time with them for Alea’s 7th birthday. It’s going to be such a fun time and we have lots of fun things planned, but the car ride there and back has me all kinds of nervous!
Not to mention all of the things I’m packing, as well. I think we might need a U-Haul trailer to stick on the back of our vehicle. Like what if I forget something? What if she goes through more outfits than I have packed? (I guess we can always buy a new one at a nearby store or the mall…) There’s just so many “what ifs” and worries!
One thing I’m not worried about, though, is where she’ll sleep. We learned early on that whenever we get a hotel, we always get one with a separate bedroom. It’s not much more expensive and completely and totally worth the extra cost. Being able to have a separate room for Mckenna to go to sleep in and nap in will hopefully be a game changer. I know it always has been with Alea!
And in that separate bedroom she’ll be sleeping in her Evenflo Aeris BabySuite Playpen. I love that this is not only a comfortable place to sleep, but a convenient location for diaper changes as well. It folds down into nice convenient and easy to carry bag, as well.
Seriously, this thing is going to save us on this trip! Fingers crossed for sweet dreams and plenty of sleep, because we’re definitely going to need it after a long day at the mall!
What tips do you have for me for surviving our first trip with Mckenna?
