Yep, there was really no chance I was cranking out these posts every month and even now, we’re approaching the end of month 6. Oops! Babies just get busier and busier as the months go on, though, I’m almost sure of it! These past few months have just been a whirlwind of new milestones, sleep regressions, and lots and lots of giggles! I’ve said it one hundred times before and I’d say it one hundred times again, I’m so thankful that Mckenna has joined our little family. She brings us nothing but happiness and she’s so perfect for us.
Full disclaimer: These 5 month photos were taken within a week or two of the 6 month photos below. Oops. Epic mom fail right there, but at least we got them done and aren’t missing a month! Right? Phew!
Month 5 brought lots of fun things for Miss Kenna. We started her on infant oatmeal and even started a few pureed vegetables. She adjusted really well, thankfully. Her very first vegetable was sweet potatoes (my choice, since Cory picked Alea’s first vegetable– carrots) and she absolutely loved them, just like her mama! She also started rolling a little more, but being on her tummy still isn’t her most favorite thing in the world.
If you can’t tell, she’s started moving a little bit more and that makes these pictures so much more difficult now! It’s quite the workout, let me tell ya!
She was in 3-6 month clothes at this time and I could still squeeze her into some of our favorite 3 month outfits. We also took away the Halo sleep sack swaddle this month and it’s been downhill since then. This little girl just loves to be swaddled all snug and secure!
6 months brought lots more fun for Miss Kenna! She started to slowly build her core strength and sit-up with the assistance of the boppy pillow, bumbo chair or a helping hand. She absolutely hates to fall over, so assistance is key! This month brought a big ol’ sleep regression for this little stinker. She now prefers to sleep with mom and dad in bed and despises her pack n’ play in our room. I did buy a knock-off DockATot on Etsy, though, so we’re trying to get her to love her pack n’ play and then will finally transition her to her own room. (Someday maybe before she’s sixteen… ha!)
At her 6 month appointment she weighed 18 pounds! I was totally shocked, but at the same time, she eats so good so it shouldn’t have been a surprise! She also had her first two teeth poke through with very few complaints from her. Her first tooth came on 4/8/17 and her second tooth came on 4/16/17 on Easter! Alea thought it was pretty cool that the Easter bunny must’ve brought Mckenna her second tooth!
With every stage and every milestone I always find myself saying “this age is my favorite!” I love how interactive she’s becoming, all of the smiles, the giggles, and the snuggles. She’s the most cheerful baby I’ve ever encountered and we’re just so lucky that she’s ours!
I can’t wait to see what months 7 and 8 bring!
