Serious Question: Does anyone else have a child that seems to grow like a total weed?
I was just looking through Alea’s closet the other day and was in complete shock at not only how much clothes she has in her closet (I swear, this kid has ten times more clothes than I do), but at how many of those clothing items were way too small for her! I swear I just went through her clothes and put things that were too small for her into storage, but it must have been longer ago than I thought. Time to break out the plastic containers and get some of these clothes put away and start refreshing her wardrobe for the coming school year!
We started first by looking to see what Gymboree had to offer. I love the quality of their clothing and they always have some really great deals. I was in shock at some of the steals I got during their 4th of July sale and I’m always surprised at how great the prices are on any other day. Mckenna and Alea got a whole mess of new clothes because I just can’t stop, won’t stop. Ya know?
We picked-out Alea’s back-to-school dress which is a bit of a tradition for us. You’ll have to wait to see that adorable piece when the first day of school rolls around, though, sorry! But this outfit is basically just as adorable. I picked out the brown boots knowing that she would ooh and ahh over them the second she took them out of the box. And that she did! Now that she’s going to be a big ol’ 2nd grader, you better believe she’s got plenty of opinion when it comes to her clothes. She’s pretty good at putting together things that match (finally) and I think my days of laying out her outfits for the week are numbered. (It’s one of those bittersweet things, you know!)
This little miss thang and I don’t have enough fashion shoots anymore. I can’t remember the last time we did this and it’s SO FUN! She loves “playing dress-up” and she loves posing for the camera. You better believe that those cartwheel shots were all her idea!
Ever since we had Mckenna in November, it just seems like Alea’s maturity has increased exponentially. She’s always been very mature for her age, but I’m just amazed at how being a big sister has changed her. Yes, there’s a little jealousy here and there at the attention that Mckenna gets, but more often than not Alea’s the one giving Mckenna the most attention of all.
I don’t tell her enough how thankful I am and I proud of her I am. She’s really growing up to be such a sweet girl!
If you’re looking to do some back-to-school shopping for your kids this year, I gotta say, Gymboree has some really adorable pieces. Their kids clothing is grown-up without being TOO grown-up, if you know what I mean, and they have the cutest baby clothes as well. It’s a win-win for me to have one great place where I can buy quality, reasonably priced clothes for both of my kids!
What’s on your child’s back-to-school clothing list?
Do they enjoy picking out their first day of school outfit?
