There’s one member of our family who doesn’t get as much love on this here blog and I gotta say, I’ve been feeling a little guilty about it. He’s a really big sweetheart and he always knows exactly how to cheer me up when I’m feeling down. He may drool incessantly and have very stinky breath, but he’s such a lover and such a gentle giant around Alea and Mckenna. Dare I say he may even be slightly afraid of Mckenna now that she crawls and can come barreling towards him at record speed to grab chunks of his fur? He’s just so tolerant and so patient with her, though!
I’ll never forget when Cory told me we were going to get a dog. Yes, you heard that right. He told me. He texted me while I was in my psychology class and said “We’re going to go look at puppies to night.” In his defense, he did just say “look” but in my defense he knows I’m a complete sucker. So, after he got home from work we went to a shelter and looked at a rescued litter of chocolate lab puppies that someone had surrendered that day. We had the pick of the litter and I decided on Bentley, the sweet little runt who was hiding under the heater in the corner. Cory will never let me live that down. But he was just so sweet and so sad, I couldn’t help but scoop him up and make him ours. And that’s exactly what we did. (Like absolute crazy people when Alea was 9 months old!)
He may or may not be a little camera shy. He looks scared to death, but it was mainly because I was telling him to “sit” and “stay” and putting my big camera in his face and not giving him a Milkbone® treat right away. Poor guy! We’ve decided to celebrate with Milkbone® for their 20th anniversary with Canine Assistants. Canine Assistants is a non-profit organization that trains and provides service dogs for children and adults with disabilities and other special needs. What an amazing cause! And of course, Bentley is all about celebrating with more treats!
Isn’t that video just the sweetest?
